AM I GREAT CYCLIST? NO.
AM I AIMING TO BE A GREAT CYCLIST ALSO NO!
Am I a middle aged, average bodied, fairly crap cyclist who just loves exploring in the sunshine and who enjoys the apres-bike probably a little too much. Oh yes! That’s more like it!
So hi! If you’re more the latter than the former, if you love road biking just for the love of being outdoors, if you’re more than happy being ‘middle of the road’, this blog is for you.
I’ve always enjoyed being outside and have loved running and paddleboarding for years now. In 2020, like lots of people in lockdown, I took up cycling too. And I got the bug! Road cycling is an awesome way to see the world, and a great basis for a holiday that isn’t centred on booze, all inclusives and the ubiquitous ‘resort’. There’s nothing wrong with those kinds of holidays, they’re just not for me. Beautiful towns, ALL the views, stunning local food and drink, and locations with their own personalities are far more tempting in my world, and I’d like to take you along for the ride.
So think articles about:
Road biking for the not so svelte cyclist
Cycling holidays with the perfect combination of great routes, quiet roads and gorgeous pit stops.
Sunshine destinations for every month of the year
Great local food and drink
And the odd disaster just for good measure
If that sounds like the kind of thing you’d like to read about, then you have found YOUR TRIBE!!
I’m Helen, I am based in the North East of England and my home riding turf is North Tyneside and the beautiful country roads of Northumberland. It’s stunning to cycle here when the weather is good. I don’t ever plan on leaving, but I AM a sun lover, and I do plan on wintering abroad. In Spain. I’m loving exploring lots of new places on two wheels, and doing some great reconnaissance for my perfect winter cycling spots.
